Rare Italian Jazz: Larry Nocella & Dannie Richmond: Everything Happens to Me (1980)

A young italian artist, Larry Nocella, died only 40 in 1989, here in a rare album, recorded just 30 years ago with a USA trio leaded by Dannie Richmond, the drummer well known for his collaboration with Charles Mingus.

Jazz Live in Europe: Rita Marcotulli & Andy Sheppard at JazzFest in Bonn 2010

It's not the first time that the italian pianist Rita Marcotulli and the british saxophonist Andy Sheppard play together.

A rare Live album to remember Gianni Basso (1931-2009)

A very rare album to remember the italian tenor saxophonist Gianni Basso, who died 78, the 17th august 2009.

He was one of the fathers of italian modern jazz, with the trumpet player Oscar Valdambrini was the leader of the Basso-Valdambrini quintet.


the first italian group of modern jazz known and appreciated also out of Italy.

Forty years ago, june 9, 1970, with a quartet composed by some of the best italian jazz players, he had a concert in Milan at Centro Pirelli. The tapes of that performance were forgotten for years. In 1996 a limited edition (500 CD and 500 LP) were issued form the original tapes.


In 2009 a new limited edition was issued with the same numbers.

Rare Italian Jazz: Tiziana Ghiglioni: Lonely Woman (1981)

Tiziana Ghiglioni is the best italian jazz singer and in her many years of activity she worked with many important jazz players as Kenny Drew, N.H.O. Pedersen, Mal Waldron, Steve Lacy, Tony Oxley, Charlie Mariano, Kenny Clarke, Aldo Romano, P. Bley, Lee Konitz, Tony Scott, ecc.
Here we present her first album: Lonely Woman (1981) never reissued in CD.

Jazz Live in Europe: Enrico Rava quintet at Umbria Jazz 2001 Perugia (Italy)

Two of the best italian trumpet players: Enrico Rava e Paolo Fresu with Stefano Bollani, one of the most appreciate pianists in Europe and not only, Enzo Pietropaoli (bs), Roberto Gatto (drm) playing together at Umbria Jazz 2001.
One extraordinary concert that you can see here entirely. About fifty minutes of ecxiting music played by several well-known, experienced Italian jazz musicians.

WARSAW JAZZ JAMBOREE First breach in Iron Curtain

In Eastern Bloc countries, during the Cold War, Jazz represented a form of harmless “dissent” standed by regime and had a particular diffusion in Poland, also for the less oppression due to the arrival to the power of Edward Gierek in 1970.

Polish Jazz community was very alive. In 1966 began her publications magazine Jazz Forum (also in English and German) very appreciated and widspread abroad, and still today active.



In those years rised also Jamboree International Jazz Festival, which opened the doors to many important western musicians and fans coming from other Eastern countries and also from near Scandinavia.

Every Year Warsaw turned into a perky international community of young people, a real music melting pot.


Many concerts were published on LP by MUZA Polish editions.

In 1977 italian pianist Guido Manusardi with his quartet was there and his performance was published in one LP


with those of two other pianists: the hungarian Gusztav Csik and the japanese Yosuke Yamashita.
